Kenard Lloyd Sr Obituary

KENARD CHARLES LLOYD, SR. was born on September 22, 1939, to the late Ivan Lloyd, Sr. and Lillian

Green Lloyd in Williamstown, New Jersey. Kenny was educated in the Williamstown school system and

grew up helping his father and brother, Ivan Jr., work their family land. One of his first jobs was as a

Cook at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, where he met and married Clara Mae Tyson. Kenny and Clara built

their home in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, and from this union were born four children, Diedre, Marjorie,

Kenthy and Kenard, Jr. Kenny became a professional truck driver, purchasing trucks and starting his own

business. He then worked for the New Jersey Department of Transportation for over 20 years, from

which he retired.

Kenny loved nature, raising animals, farming, and gardening. He and Ivan were avid hunters and

fishermen and enjoyed crabbing with their wives, Clara and Marva. They often would take day trips and

go on camping excursions with their families during the summer. They also traveled as couples, visiting

the attractions of many states. His love for camping led him to join NAARVA (the National African

American Recreation Vehicle Association) and the Leisure Travelers camping clubs. He was also a long-

standing member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape tribal association in Bridgeton, NJ. He was a family

man, often visiting with aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was also a devout friend to many, but it is

believed that it was the many conversations he had with his dear friends, Ron Pender and Ed Geary

(with whom he worked for years), that led him to put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and

personal Savior. Kenny attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. Atiba Rose on

September 29, 2019. Although he never held the title of deacon, he performed the duties well,

frequently visiting the sick and shut-in and widows of dear friends.

Kenny departed this life on July 15, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Clara Mae, and his

grandson, Walter Brown, III. Kenny leaves to cherish his memory his children Diedre Lloyd, Marjorie

Lloyd-Roberts (Brian), Kenthy Street (Kenon), and Kenard Lloyd, Jr. (Jacqueline).

Grandchildren Vaughn Lloyd, Shari Lloyd, Joshua Lloyd, Kyle Lloyd, Tiera Lloyd,

Nydia Street, Dylan Jackson, Leanna Lloyd and London Lloyd. Great-grandchildren Amani Brown, Walter

Brown IV, Carmelo Brown, and Melania Lloyd. Brother James Cuff (Sondra). Sister-in-law Betty Davison

and Carolyn Tyson. Cousin Lena Belcher (Joe). Nephews Ivan Lloyd IV, William Lloyd (Leslie), LeRoy

Tyson, and Todd Hickman (Jodi). Nieces Judy Burrell (Tim), Lisa Curtis (Lawrence), Wanda Richardson

(Dwayne), Danielle Tyson and a host of other extended family and friends. Additionally, we would like to

acknowledge his primary caregivers at Berlin Nursing and Rehab (J’Ana and Hermette) and Vitas

Healthcare (Lezli, Betty and Gloria) who administered such great care to him over the past few months.

Kenny will be sorely missed, but his legacy of love will live on through his descendants.
