Life Story
Kimo N. Fleetwood, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, was born on July 24, 1984, in Camden, NJ, to Joel Brown and Rhonda Fleetwood. He grew up in the heart of Camden, where he attended the city’s public schools, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School with the Class of 2002.
From an early age, Kimo had a deep love for sports, particularly football, and an adventurous spirit that led him to a passion for riding bikes—a love he inherited from his father. According to Kimo, he was an elite rider, but we all knew better. His humor, infectious energy, and undeniable charm made him the kind of person who could walk into a room and shift the entire atmosphere.
After high school, Kimo pursued his love for cooking by venturing into the world of culinary arts. Later, he expanded his skills and obtained his CDL, allowing him to explore new career opportunities. No matter where life took him, Kimo’s heart always remained rooted in family and community.
More than anything, Kimo was a devoted father. His children will forever be his greatest source of pride, and despite any struggles he faced, he always showed up for them. “Only the family in my eyes” was more than just a phrase to him—it was a way of life. He cherished every moment spent with his mother, siblings, children, nieces, and nephews. Whether it was baking, playing video games, tossing a football in a parking lot, or shooting hoops until sunrise, Kimo found joy in things that made those around him happy.
His bond with his siblings was unbreakable, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Kimo was always there to lend a helping hand, lighten a burden, or offer words of encouragement. His heart was pure, his love was boundless, and his presence was larger than life.
The city of Camden will forever feel the loss of Kimo Fleetwood. He was more than just a familiar face—he was a staple in the community, a friend to all, and a light in the lives of those who knew him. His smile could brighten the darkest of days, and his kindness left a lasting impact everywhere he went.
Kimo was preceded in death by his dad, Joseph Bethea, and his brother, Johnathan Moore. Though they are no longer physically present, their love and memories remain forever in the hearts of those left behind.
Kimo is survived by his loving mother, Rhonda Fleetwood; his children, Mya and Javier Fleetwood; his devoted siblings, Truth, Joseph, Wendell, Joseph L, Odessa, Sierra, Rhonda, and Erica, ; his nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Anthony Clark and Christian Torres; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Kimo left a legacy of love, peace, and loyalty that will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
