Zaniya Drew was born in Norfolk, VA, on June 9th, 200S, to Timothy Drew and Lashaun
Crawford. Affectionately known as "Niya," she grew up in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia
before relocating to Mount Laurel, NJ, where she resided until her passing. Zaniya graduated
from Hope Works, a technology training school, where she honed her skills in web design and
GIS.
Niya had a heart for service, dedicating her time to working with youth and those in need.
Alongside her family, she played a vital role in serving over 15,000 individuals hot, fresh meals
at no cost, always thinking of others before herself. Her infectious smile and laughter were a
constant presence at her mother's restaurant, where she created lasting memories with
everyone she met. At just 16 years old, she earned her Serv Safe Manager Certification,
showcasing her dedication to food safety and her love for cooking and exploring diverse
cuisines.
Zaniya loved to have fun and embraced life with enthusiasm. In her free time, she found joy in
dancing and music. With a keen ear for the latest hits, she also held a special affection for old-
school vibes, particularly enjoying the music of Brent Faiyaz and Bryson Tiller. Her favorite
movie was Princess and the Frog, and she often delighted in sharing new music and dance
moves with her loved ones. Additionally, she enjoyed playing video games and was a fan of
anime, often discussing her favorite shows with friends. Zaniya also had a passion for
shopping and a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Omega.
Zaniya was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandfathers, Jerry Daniel and Carol
Drew. She leaves behind a loving family that cherishes her memory: her father, Timothy Drew;
her mother, Lashaun (Raheem) Crawford; her brothers, lzjan Koonce and Dartanyon Drew; her
grandmothers, Cynthia Daniel and Brenda Drew; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins,
and many friends who will deeply miss her vibrant spirit.
Zaniya Drew's legacy of kindness, love, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
May she rest in peace, embraced by the love she so freely shared. #forever20
