Quietly and peacefully, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, God, in His infinite wisdom, having determined that His child, our beloved Tommy, had suffered enough. He closed his eyes and entered him into eternal rest.

Thomas Joseph Smith was born on October 19, 1939 to the late William Sr. and the late Lenora (Chamberlain) Smith. He was born in Merchantville, New Jersey, where he attended school and later relocated to Camden, New Jersey, where he lived most of his life.

Tommy was married to Nancy (Jones) for 15 years. From this union, a daughter, Antoinette “Toni” Smith was born.

Tommy worked at Houston’s Garage as a mechanic for many years. Throughout his life, Tommy, with his wonderful smile, touched everyone he met with his love of life. He never met a stranger and had a nickname for everybody. He loved cooking, growing plants, playing pinocle and eating crabs. He was a die-hard Eagles fan.

He was preceded in death by siblings Thelma White, William Smith Jr., Charles Smith, George Smith, Alfred Smith, Albert Smith, Elaine Lee, and Richard Smith. He was also pre-deceased by his stepdaughter, Lisa Smith.

Tommy leaves to mourn one daughter, Antoinette “Toni” Smith, stepson, Lamont Jones, siblings Barbara Hawkins, Doris “Dicey” Perkins, Anthony “Tony” Smith (Theresa) and Carol Smith, one grandchild James Smith, a special friend Simone Rhone and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
