Her Life Story….

BARBARA FRAZIER – CARPENTER was born on August 18, 1942, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Hulley Sr. and Nina Virginia Goodwin. Barbara was called home to be with Lord peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She resided in Woodstock, Maryland, and was 83 years old.

Barbara was a graduate of Bridgeton High School in 1960. Over the years she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant, always extending her natural gift of caring for others. She devoted herself to looking after her beloved sister Carolyn (affectionately known as Lee) who lived with Cerebral Palsy. Family was the center of Barbara’s world. She especially cherished traveling with her children and grandchildren on family vacations, creating memories that will be treasured. An avid walker, she faithfully walked several miles each day.

Barbara’s faith was her foundation. She found joy in attending church and reading her Bible. It was a surprise to her family, to learn that Barbara could play the piano by ear. She would play with the grandchildren every chance she could. When asked where she learned to play, Barbara shared that she played the accordion during high school. Her musical gift inspired her granddaughter to learn to play.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Cleo Carpenter; a daughter, India Frazier; siblings, Nina Virginia Goodwin, Hulley Goodwin Jr., Andrew Goodwin, Norris Goodwin Sr., Rebekah Money, Rosemary Thompson, Carolyn Goodwin, Eileen Goodwin, and Mabel Bell.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted and loving children, Dawn L. Frazier of New Jersey, Bernard (Ijeoma) Frazier Jr. of California, Monica (Wayne) McCottry of Maryland, Brian (Erika) Carpenter of New Jersey, and Carmen Carpenter of New Jersey; grandchildren, Brandi (Jeff) Frazier Vines, Andre (Nancy) Petway, Brandon Jones, Mark Champ Jr., Blake Frazier, India (Noah) Austin, Chase McCottry, Tyler McCottry, Cydney McCottry, Bre’Yannah Frazier, Shannon Frazier, and Brooklyn Frazier; great-grandchildren, Koran Cowans, Dante Cowans, Kennedi Vines, Amaya Petway, Amani Petway, Aminah Petway, Nyla Austin, Noah Austin Jr., Amir Frazier, Matai Frazier, and Strength Frazier; very close special friends, Alta (Cissy) Lloyd, Patricia Frazier, Lester Frazier, and Virginia Scurry Stephney.
