Leverne Harris Obituary

Leverne Demathis Harris was born June 24, 1970, to the late Leroy Harris and Lila C. Cooper in Philadelphia, PA. Leverne was later raised in New Jersey with his father and Bonus mother, Deborah Harris.

Vern, affectionately known to everyone, was educated in the Pennsauken School District, where he graduated from Pennsauken High School in 1989. He married Vora Johnson, with whom he had four beautiful children: Leverne Jr. Quinell (who preceded his father in death), Michael, and Shakera.

Later in life, Leverne met Robin Russell, which led to their marriage on April 6, 2016. They love walking in the parks and talking to each other. His favorite nickname for his wife was “Ole Lady”.

Vern had a passion for spreading the word of God and helping people. He loved his family and would do anything for them. He had a special bond with his nieces, Nakiyah Peterson and Keisha Williams. Vern and Nakiyah would be up all night making TikTok videos and long talks. Vern and Keisha were more like siblings; he called, and she went to him, no matter where he was. She was his extra support system. He had a love for culinary arts and automotive mechanics. He loved playing pool, often referred to as the pool shark, and would challenge anyone to a game. He enjoys playing “Spades,” swimming, and having a good time at parties. He was the life of any party.

He had friends from Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York who loved him. You never know what state Vern would be in. His favorite saying was, “I am Leverne Harris, I can do whatever I want to do”.

Leverne was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Harris and Lila C. Cooper, and his stepfather, Arnold Cooper; his son, Quinell Harris; and His Uncle, Michael Williams.

Leverne leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Robin Harris; Bonus-mom, Deborah Harris; and his children, Leverne Jr. (Pudgy), Michael, and Shakera. Seven stepchildren: Tawanda, Rashell, Andre, Gerald, Rasheed, Shannon, and Jarmole. His grandchildren are Phoenix, Leverne 3rd, Quinell Jr., Ishanne, and Lena. Siblings, Derrick, Roy, Mary, Dismas (Jasmin), Rosetta, Raymond, Molisha, Akeem, and Cassandra. Host of nephews and nieces, seven great nephews and four great nieces. Aunts Joan Williams and Moses McCloud. Uncles Carl W. Williams, Stanley Williams, and Charles Williams. A host of cousins, family, and friends.
