Kenneth Williams Sr Obituary

Kenneth Bruce Williams Sr., affectionately known as "Kenny" or "Droops" was born on November 5, 1957 in Camden, NJ, ro Frances L. Williams and Curtis Jones. He remained a proud Camden resident for most of his life, a place that shaped him and held the people he loved most.

Kenny was educated in the Camden City Public School District and attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he was known for playing football, and that's where he got the nick name "Droops" After high-school he worked at Burger King. He later became a Bus Driver for the B.P.U.M. Day Care Center, a job that allowed him to serve his community with kindness and patience.

In 1980 he began working at Berbirian Rugs in Merchantville NJ. Four years later, on October 6, 1984, Kenny and Alice were united in marriage at Hosanna A.M.E. Church, beginning what would become a beautiful 48 year union.

From this loving marriage came their two cherished children, Keshia Mae Williams, his sensitive poetic writer, and his namesake Kenneth Bruce Williams Jr., known as Bud, his hard working son. Kenny was also a proud Pop Pop to his beloved grandchild Tijaé.

Kenny lived a rich life with simple joys. He loved fishing and often traveled with friends and family to cast a line in Massachusetts, Pleasantville, Gloucester, Hammonton, and Blackwood. He found comfort and took pride in the kitchen. He loved to bake his Mom's famous pound cake, cooking meals like steak, mashed potatoes and green beans, and making Tijae's favorite, eggplant parmesan. He loved exploring recipes from his Dooky Chase New Orleans cook book. He loved his racing cars, trains, and collecting Hess Trucks.

When he wasn't cooking or fishing, Kenny could be found cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, or watching his favorite tv shows: Rifleman, Gunsmoke, Banaza, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. Kenny loved listening to his oldies with his love Alice, 7:00 on Sunday nights. Kenny and Alice helped his Sister Tayari (June) and friends give out food to the community on the weekends.

Kenny loved helping his family and his community, and hanging with Uncle Fat, they were like brothers, best friends, and Father and Son. He was a devoted Husband, loving Father, great brother, Uncle, and best cousin all in one. Kenny was a fierce protector of his loved ones.

Kenny was predeceded by his parents Curtis Jones, and Frances L. Jones, his brother Bo, and his some of his Eastside Aunts and Uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Alice, his daughter Keshia, son Kenneth Jr, his granddaughter Tijaé, his sister, Tayari June Potts, and Sister-in-law Doretha Williams. His Aunt, Reverend Georgiamae Smith, Uncle, Aaron "Fat" Williams, Aunt Peggy, and a loving host of neices, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends.
