Brenda Lee Green, born April 4, 1954, in Trafford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home, following a more than five-year spiritual and holistic journey with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Joseph Walker and Elizabeth Gay Walker, both of whom preceded her in death.
Brenda’s childhood was shaped by church, family, and community. Raised near Pittsburgh, her parents dedicated their time and resources to supporting and raising young Black children, giving Brenda a home filled with a host of siblings and a deep understanding of caregiving, justice, and responsibility to others.
A proud native Pittsburgher, Brenda carried the Steel City with her wherever she went. She was an avid Steelers fan—as she was supposed to be—and never lost her local language, affectionately calling shopping carts “buggies” and soda “pop.” Even after her later move to Collingswood, New Jersey, Pittsburgh was always home in her heart.
Shortly after relocating, Brenda found her church home at First Nazarene Baptist Church, where she quickly became involved in the daycare, and other community-related happenings. True to her roots in child development, the children at First Nazarene Christian Academy became a source of joy, purpose, and reciprocal love during her final years, helping sustain her strength and spirit.
Brenda graduated from Trafford High School and went on to attend Carlow College in Oakland, Pennsylvania, where she studied early childhood education. During this time, living independently as a free-spirited young woman of the 1960’s, she met her future husband, Lauren Feodor Green, Sr. On a hot July afternoon, they married at her hometown church, Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Trafford, Pennsylvania. Their marriage of more than two decades produced two children, Lauren Feodor Green, Jr. and Ellonda LaChelle Green.
Although Brenda semi-retired more than a decade ago, her strong work ethic and love of people kept her working until her most recent hospital stay in October 2025. She was employed at Marshalls, where visitors often laughed as she proudly shared stories of her honesty—and expertise—in the fitting room.
Brenda’s passions were cooking, caregiving, and children. Her faith guided her life and decisions, and while she was never one to claim perfection, she never hesitated to speak her mind if she believed it could make something better.
She is survived by her son, Lauren Green, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Lee Green; and grandson, Quest Green; her daughter, Ellonda Williams; daughter-in-law, Crystal Williams, and granddaughter, Cameron Williams. She is also survived by her spiritually adopted niece and nephew, Lynda Marie Porter and Vernon Brockinson; bonus granddaughter, Lillian Smith; brothers, Melvin Walker (wife, Priscilla Walker), John Walker, Herbert Hall (wife, Tameka Hall) Larry Thomas and Clifton Wilson; as well as sister, Linda Wilson. Leaving also to mourn are nieces Janiene Reynolds, Angela Zagoura, Jessica, Latoya and Tameka; as well as nephews Joey, Nathan, Justin and Brandon. She leaves behind a slew of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish her memory
