Kim Regina Poindexter, 70, of Voorhees, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2025, at Virtua Hospital in Marlton, NJ. Her sudden loss has deeply affected all who knew and loved her.
Kim was born on August 14, 1955, to Joan Poindexter and the late Charles Christy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls' High School in 1973, Kim attended Rutgers University-Camden, earning her Bachelor of Nursing in 1977. That same year, Kim received her registered nurse license and started a nearly 50-year career providing love and expert care to newborn babies—first in the nursery at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, NJ, then in the neonatal intensive care unit at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia and then Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. In 2015, Kim received a kidney transplant from her daughter and continued working until she retired in August 2024, allowing her to spend more time reading, planting, cheering for the Eagles and Phillies, and enjoying her grandchildren.
Kim was a devoted daughter and mother, giving everything to unconditionally support her two children. Her love expanded when she became a grandmother. She adored her two grandchildren, attending their activities and events, sharing in their joys and accomplishments, and hanging their pictures on every available surface of her house. Kim spent the weekend before her death surrounded by her children and grandchildren celebrating Christmas. Kim's introverted nature and preference for quiet sometimes gave her a reserved exterior, but those close to her knew the warmth, humor, and deep love she held inside. Kim had a deep love of animals, rescuing many from shelters, and felt a home wasn't complete without a pet. Most recently, she adopted Luna, a beautiful grey kitten that she spoiled up until the minute she went to the hospital.
Kim is survived by her son, Daniel Moore (Katie Richter) and his daughter Abigail (age 7) of Alexandria, VA; her daughter, Laura Moore and her son Miles (age 4) of Voorhees, NJ; her mother, Joan Poindexter of Lindenwold, NJ; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Kim was preceded in death by her siblings, Stephanie Poindexter and Charles Poindexter, and father, Charles Christy.
