Eric Drummond Obituary

His Life Story

“What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Helen Keller

Eric Lamont Drummond was born on October 22, 1959, in Camden, New Jersey, to Ruth Rose (Taylor) Drummond and Samuel Louis Drummond. The eighth of nine children, Eric had a presence that could never be overlooked.

He was educated in the Camden School System. Eric worked various jobs over the years, including Campbell’s Place. No matter where life took him, one thing was always consistent—Eric showed up looking good and ready to show out. Known affectionately as “Pretty Ricky”, Eric loved fashion and had an effortless GQ style. He was confident, charming, and unapologetically himself—a true ladies’ man whose smile and smooth talk were only matched by his ability to put together a look. Shopping was one of his favorite pastimes, and he took pride in always being dressed to impress.

Eric enjoyed traveling, dining out, and savoring a good lamb chop—his favorite meal. And of course, his favorite sweet treat—peppermint patties. He’d never forget them. He loved jazz music and live concerts, and his happy place was warm weather, especially relaxing at the beach with the sound of waves and a jazz playlist playing in the background. Eric was so full of life, full of love, always himself, and always bringing smiles and laughter to anyone around him. Eric’s energy filled any room he entered, and his presence was something you felt the moment he arrived. He had a big heart, a beautiful smile, and a personality that drew people in effortlessly. Family meant everything to him, and he showed his love in his own unforgettable way.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Samuel Drummond; his brother, Shaheed Drummond; and his baby sister, Kim Drummond.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Erica Drummond, Colleen Drummond, Donnia Drummond, and Kyle Drummond. A beautiful granddaughter, Xuri Drummond. He is also survived by his siblings: Sharon Drummond, Colleen (Bev) Drummond, Barbara Drummond-Barge (Sherman), Jackie Drummond-Pratt (James), Stephen Drummond (Sarah), and Troy Drummond.

Eric also leaves to cherish his memory his best friend, Lisa Fuller, his beloved niece and “cut-up partner”, Kelly Drummond, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his style, laughter, and unforgettable spirit.

Pretty Ricky lived fully, loved deeply, and left his mark on everyone who knew him. His spirit, style, and warmth will live on forever.

When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see, the sun will rise and find your eyes. All filled with tears for me. But don’t think of me as gone away—my journey’s just begun. I’ve left behind heartaches and tears. And taken only love.
