Cornelia P. Fisher was born on November 25, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, to her parents, Lurine Clark Sims and Clyde Sims. At a young age, she moved to Philadelphia for a few years before settling in Delair, New Jersey. She attended Booker T. Washington grade school in Delair and later graduated from Palmyra High School in 1962. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Hosanna AME Church in Camden, New Jersey, with her parents and siblings. During her time there, she sang in the junior choir and served as an usher. It was also during this period that Cornelia met and married the love of her life, Harold L. Fisher. During their union of 60 years, they welcomed their daughter, Tummona K. Fisher. A multifaceted and well-accomplished woman, Cornelia had an infectious personality and a smile that would light up a room. She never met a stranger and was truly a ray of sunshine. Professionally, she worked at St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA for several years and later dedicated 27 years to The Center for Family Services as a Family Therapist, LCSW, from which she eventually retired. While there she helped thousands of families find employment and change their lives.
Cornelia truly loved to travel and enjoyed trying her hand at the casino with her friends and family. She had a wonderful way of having fun by telling jokes and making people laugh. She was strikingly beautiful, both inside and out. As the owner of her own business, “Personal Touch by Cornelia,” she created handmade lingerie and floral arrangements for parties and personal engagements. She took great pride in everything she did and executed her work exceptionally well.
She also really enjoyed showing off her masterpiece garden for all to see. People came from near and far to visit, and her gardening talents were even featured in the newspaper several times. She was well known for her beautiful fashions. She enjoyed the latest styles and always dressed impeccably.
She will be remembered as a lovely woman who touched many lives. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Who loved her community and would do anything to help anyone. Cornelia had a passion for cooking, decorating, artwork, painting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was well known for her memorable parties and delectable meals, as well as her creative talent for making personalized Christmas trees and other custom items upon request. There was nothing that you could imagine or ask for that she could not create, she possessed so many talents that it is truly indescribable. I even remember how she enjoyed playing the harmonica sometimes.
She was a remarkably gifted individual. Beyond her home, she was deeply committed to her community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Fisher;her parents, Clyde and Lurine Sims; her brother, Calvin Sims; and her sister, Yvonne Sims Pease. Cornelia leaves to cherish in her memory her daughter, Tummona K. Fisher; her sister, Annette Trotman; her niece, Yvette Sims; and her grand-niece, Ayannah Sims. She will be missed by a host of other family and friends .
