Our dear Mother Roberta Ruth Marshall sadly passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 after a brief illness with her family by her side. One of nine children, Roberta Ruth was born a fraternal twin to the late Thaddeus V. Jones Sr. and Ruth Smith on May 27, 1935 in Camden, NJ. She was educated in Camden public schools up until the time her family relocated to Waterford Township, NJ in 1948. She attended Lower Camden County Regional High School with her twin Robert, where she was active in basketball, the marching band and a drum majorette. After graduating, Roberta R. Marshall continued her educational pursuits as a student at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. Roberta worked as a Proofreader at the publishing house Reuben H. Donnelley Corporation. She was also employed by the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Campbell Soup Company where she met her future husband. Roberta Ruth Marshall, was married to the late Roosevelt J. Marshall for 51 years. A well esteemed member of the community, Mrs. Marshall lived in Lawnside for over 65 years in the home built by her father, brothers and husband. She was admired by all who came to know her and touched many people over the course of her vibrant lifetime. She was active in many civic organizations and was a Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts. A devoted Mother of sons Glenn R. Marshall and Barry S. Marshall, who predeceased her. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons Brent Marshall and Gordon Marshall and two daughters, Joy Marshall and Dolly Marshall. She is also survived by one sister Henrietta Curtis, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a number of loving relatives and close friends. Roberta R. Marshall brought a smile to everyone’s face and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Ferry Avenue United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., 768 Ferry Ave., Camden, NJ 08104.
