n the Lone Star State of Texas, in a meek home on the South side , another little star was born . Added to the Texas galaxy of life , Janice M Risher , in the year of Our Lord 1943. My precious parents , Gladys and John ( both deceased ) met and wed in San Antonio. My dad after leaving the military returned home to to the East Coast . Here, my brother Billie and I grew up . We moved to a section of Camden called “ Centerville “ living in the Veterans Quarters . Here, also my little sister , Fannie Gertrude , was born. Beautiful flower, which God choose to , take for His garden at the of 4. In Centerville, we attended the Charles Sumner and Mickle Elementary Schools. As a youth , I joined Bethal A.M.E. Church . Here , I was baptized and became a member of the Junior Ushers and Choir Boards. After leaving the Centerville area , my parents purchased a home in the 4th ward . Here my teenage years were fantastic! Camden High School was the bomb back in the 60’s. Our school at the time had the title of state champs in basketball.  We also had an excellent football team. During my teen years I was a member of the “ Camden Youth Council” the second club. I was their treasurer . We had a great youth program . Basketball tournaments, bowling parties . Saturday night dances and junior night clubs . After this period in my life , God blessed me with my two lovely daughters . Angelique and Tamria. After this great moment, He, in his mercy, afforded me a second opportunity- a job with the United States Postal Service. While working for the U.S.P.S. I was able to travel and see many famous cities and countries throughout the world London, Amsterdam, Italy and Japan just to name a few. Even during all of this I must mention I was given my most precious joy in life my beautiful granddaughter, Tiara. When she came into “our lives “ what a joy. My pleasures in life are traveling getting dressed and going to dinner, theaters , plays , movies and shopping . On August 1, 2000 I retired from the U.S.P.S after 35 plus years of service. My life has had its ups and downs but my downs have been few , Thank God!!! Post retirement I enjoyed my two favorite groups seniors from the Camden office aging and The Sophisticated Ladies Red Hat’ers, Philadelphia Pa. Deep in my heart I thank the Almighty for I know I never would Have made it without him . Predeceased in death by my parents Gladys and John Edward Gibson , daughter Angelique Risher , sister Fannie Gertrude and brother Billie Risher . She is survived by her daughter Tamria Risher , granddaughter Tiara Quansah and grandson in law Ibrahim Sule plus 3 Great grandchildren Tiyon, Princess and Ibrahim Jr. She will be loved and missed by a host of other family and friends .
