Obituary of Barbara J Colbert

Our dearly beloved sister Barbara departed this life on May 4, 2017. Sister Barbara was a native of Norfolk,Virginia and moved to Camden in the late1960's. She began employment with the US Postal Service in 1967 and retired in 1999. We will miss her kind spirit and her individualism. She was true to her beliefs and conducted her life in accordance with the spiritual upbringing imbued in her by her parents. Elder Dudley Colbert and Sister Jeanette Gray Colbert. Sister Barbara loved the Lord and committed herself to his service for more than 50 years. She was ordained as a minister in 1971 at Rock of Ages Church. She was formerly the assistant secretary of Rockof Ages and a avid visitor Fellowship Holiness Church and New Life of Church of God. She was a tireless worker in whichever church she was a member or visitor. She willingly cooked meals for all types of special church occassions. Chicken was her speciality. She was a philanthropist without the title and never sought adulation for her willingness to assist others. Sister Barbara established wonderful relationships and rapport with her cousins - the Shambry family a host of friends and her neighbors Jacob Oliie Mae and her family. Sister Barbara is survivedby her dearly beloved sister Mary Colbert, her sister Claudette Cooney (Buffalo NY) and her brother Dudley Colbert (Norfolk Va) nieces Barbara Sills, Sandra Brown, Janene Cooney Kumar, and Antoinette Colbert; nephews William Jefferson, Reginald Cooney and Bernard Colbert; great nieces Jenelle Simpson, Victoria Sills, Nicole Lewis, Ladonna Valquez, Danielle Jefferson, Kia Jefferson ,Neeka Carolina ,Berniece Clark, Cregina Evans,Jozzmyn Colbert, Jazzmyn Colbert, Courtney Colbert and Tiaiysha Jenkins, great nephews Christopher Sills, Lamont Simpson, Anthony Jefferson Jr, Anthony Owens, Michael Williams, Calvin Evans, Jimmy Evans, three godchildren and host of other family and friends
