Obituary
Obituary of Charles Arline Jr
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Arline Jr. was born and raised in Camden, NJ to Charles Arline Sr. and the beloved
late-Bethel Arline. For those who knew Charles, he was affectionately known as Binky. Charles
first received the Lord at Camden Rescue Mission. At a young age, Charles showed his zest for
life through playing basketball and working his first job at the Courier Post delivering papers
throughout this neighborhood. He is a graduate of Camden High School (Class of ‘83) and went
on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance from Rutgers University. Charles
worked in the banking industry before transitioning to a career within the U.S. Postal Service,
eventually being promoted to Postmaster.
Binky found the most joy spending time with his family. Charles met his wife, Tonya Arline, in
1995 and the two married on November 6th, 2003. The couple enjoyed traveling to new places
and trying new restaurants. Binky made an effort to nurture his children’s passions and
interests, whether that was taking Charles (“Boo”) to the arcades, playing with Corey in the park,
or watching Jaden play basketball. Charles was also a dedicated son, brother, uncle, and friend
whose impact was felt by all who were lucky to have known him.
Charles Arline Jr. was predeceased by his mother, Bethel Arline, and brother, Darrall “Turk”
Arline. He leaves to cherish fond memories his father, Charles Arline Sr., his wife, Tonya Arline;
his sons, Charles (Jacki) Richardson, Corey Thorpe, Jaden Arline; his step-daughter, Shay
Young; his siblings, Beth Arline, Andre Arline, and Angela Arline; his expected grandchild,
Charles John; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and acquaintances.
