Reginald Johnson Sr Obituary

To God be the glory for the great things he has done. For we know “that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8, KJV) Reginald Johnson affectionately known as Reggie was born to the late Mamie L. Johnson on June 25th, 1952 in Camden, NJ. Reggie grew up in a large and loving family with his mother, six siblings , his grandparents, and his stepfather William Whitaker (Deceased). He was educated in the Camden City Public School System. Reggie was an adventurous child, who was full of curiosity. His curiosity would serve him well as an adult, when he came back to the Lord. A child of the Most High God, he attended Harris Temple AMEZ Church, Camden, NJ as a child. His loving grandmother led him to the Lord as a teenager, and as an adult he came back to Harris Temple AMEZ Church, where he served the Lord with great zeal for 24 plus years. He was an exhorter, assisting the pastor Rev. Robert C. Venable whenever needed. He was faithful in his duties, driving the church van and assisting the elderly. His passion was to study the Word of God and to care for the elderly and the handicapped. Upon his departure from Harris Temple AMEZ Church, he joined First Nazarene Baptist Church, Camden, NJ, Senior Pastor Dyheim T. Watson Sr, and remained there a faithful servant until his departure from this earthly realm on January 2nd, 2025. Again, he drove the Church van to transport members to various services. “Being confident of this very thing, he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6, KJV)

Reginald was joined in holy matrimony to the Rev. Christie L. Johnson (Deceased) Together they served the Lord with gladness as they supported each other in ministry. Through this union Reginald and his son Reginald L. gained a large and loving family. A few years after the loss of his loving wife, Christie, Reginald was wed once again, wed in holy matrimony to Beverley A. Linton, also a loving wife, (also Deceased). He cared very much for his extended family. He took care of his aunt Ruth Moore until her death. He cared diligently for his first wife Christie during her illness and again he cared diligently for his second wife Beverly during her illness. He assisted his Cousin Carolyn Johnson through her illness and continued to care for her up until his last days.

Reginald worked for American Appliance for 20 plus years. He was an entrepreneur starting his own business upon his retirement. He used the gift God gave him which led him to transport passengers to and fro.

Reginald loved the Lord and he shared the word whenever the opportunity arose. This was apparent in his care for his family, the elderly and the handicapped. He shall be sorely missed as Almighty God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to take him home. Reginald was preceded in death by his wife Christie L Johnson, his second wife Beverly A. Johnson, his siblings, Sharon, Gordon, Francine, Craig and Melissa. He leaves to mourn his sister Jewel Johnson, three brother in laws, Earl Zellers, Sharon (Deceased), Rev. Norm Solomon, Susan (Deceased), Kenneth Mallory, Melissa (Deceased), his son Reginald L. Johnson, his stepchildren Charles Davis, Tracey Thompson, James, Anthony Davis, Terri, his grandchildren, Reginald Johnson Jr., Janiyah Johnson, Malik Johnson, Rev. Christian Solomon, Constance, Rev. Katherine Solomon, Candace Solomon, Faith Solomon, Charlie Davis, Marcus Davis, Nichole Davis, Tricia Davis and great grandchildren, Lauren Lewis and Amari Dennis, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. We thank God for the time he gave us with our brother beloved, Reginald Johnson.
