Obituary of Ruth Rivers
Life Story
Ruth Mae Rivers was born at Fitkins Hospital in Neptune, NJ to the late Bertha Floyd Rivers and Robert Rivers Jr. on October 2,1952. She departed this life on April 3,2018 at the hospital she was birthed now called Jersey Shore University.
She attended public schools in Panama City. Than later in Florida where she enrolled in college and obtainedan Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. At the early age of 8, Ruth moved with her grandmother Mary Sweet whom she stayed with while she attended school.
in 1977, Ruth returned to New Jersey with her two handsome sons to be closer to her father, stepmother and siblings. Ruth was the family chef. She was passoniate about her cooking, listening to oldies and dancing. She had an open door policy where everyone was welcomed, you could talk she would listen and invite you to a good meal. She cooked for family, friends, neighbors and anyone that was hungry. Ruth was famous for her summer cook outs. Ruth would perfect a recipe and add her own twist. Her soulfood specialties were many and endless. She loved to entertain and host. Everyone knows that Ruth wouldn't approve of going out to eat she preferred for you to have a home cooked meal. She always spent time with family and friends. She had friends on shifts that were always there when she needed them and vice versa. Ruth would call family and friends daily to see how the were doing. She laughed, lived and loved and will be truly missed.
Ruth was preceded i death by her parents Bertha and Robert Rivers JR.. She is servived by her sons Damon F Rivers (Solaidad Z Marcelus-Rivers) and Ramon L Rivers Sr. (Zubedah Rivers) grandchildren Dayshawn I Creadle-Rivers, Seven Z Miller, Lovely C Rivers, Ramon L Rivers III, four sisters Connie Ann Amorna, Catherine Rivers-Bell, Sheila Ann-Rivers and Yvonne Rivers, two nieces Natasha Ross and Qua'ajah Rivers, five nephews Vaugyn Wilder, Quamere Norwood, Anere Everett, Robert Rivers IV and Aaron Rivers, brother in law Ernest Everett, step-mother Willie Mae Rivers, special aunt Claudia Grier and best friend Benita Smith and long time friend Terry Robinson.
