Obituary of Shekema Sims

Shekema Sims (Kema) was born in Camden, NJ on 12/11/1981 to Earle Jean Sims-Brown and Gary Jackson. She grew up in Sicklerville, NJ and later relocated back to Camden, NJ where she resided until her death.Kema had a love for teaching and a passion for fitness. Her love for fitness led her to become a certified personal trainer, where she led her own bootcamp, titled “Fitcamp”, at Cooper River Park. In addition to fitcamp, she facilitated fitness classes at House Party Fitness Studio in Berlin, NJ. Concurrently, she taught nutrition to youth at Camden Center for Youth and Development (CCYD) in Camden, NJ. Her most recent and noted accomplishment was becoming an author, where she debuted two books on Amazon.com titled, “Not Superwomen: Physical Fitness Guide Designed Especially for Women” and “Not Superwomen: 12-Month Nutrition Planner.” Although her passion was fitness, her first love was Jesus. To know Shekema was to know that she loved the LORD and she loved attending her church, Lion of Judah, where she was a member for 13 years, led by Pastor Elliot and the late Pastor Ruthie Agron numerous church members also nourished her passion for Christ; where she was awarded Mother of the Year Award in 2020. With this passion she taught bible study on Wednesdays to the Missionettes youth group. Her greatest accomplishment within the ministry was leading the Flag Worship ministry where she ushered in the Holy Spirit. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will live on through her children, her church and through her many accomplishments. She is predeceased by her Grandmothers, Florence Mae Sims(May 2009) and Virginia Harris (2018). She leaves to cherish fond memories: Children: Myana Vega, Tylea and Angel Collins: Mother: Earle Jean Sims-Brown, Father: Gary Jackson, Step-Fathers: Howard Brown and Harry Slough. Siblings: Roxann (Maurice), Tiana, Eric, Shamika, Gary, Dwann, Danielle, Da’Quan, Sad’e and Kayla. Aunts and Uncles: Stacie Moore (Daryl), Patricia Johnson-Clark (Raymond), Sandra Still (Malcom), Cassandra Robinson (Winston), Bruce Jackson, Constance Harris, June Moore, Dwayne Jackson Diane Salim (Salim) and Johnathan Sims. Special Cousins: Janaye Sims, Margaret Brown, Lahana Davis, Gregory May. She also leaves behind her God Children: Jianna Sims-Headd, Justice Brunson, Evie Riddeck, Nasir Davis and Aysheen Luquan "Pop" Allen Jr.; along with a host of other nieces and nephews.
